For this year’s (2014) OFFSET 3 day design conference, I was invited to do a portrait of Jessica Walsh, one of the 24 main conference speakers. Jessica Walsh is a multi talented designer and co-partner of NYC based design firm Sagmeister and Walsh.
I decided to incorporate her distinctive fringe and red lipstick into a composition that would reflect the clean graphic style of her work.
The portrait was initially sketched digitally, then printed out to be inked and finally brought back into the computer to be coloured digitally. I always find it interesting to see how other artists create their artwork and to that end I’ve created a time lapse video of how I created the portrait.
